Two pretty pairs of vintage Salvatore Ferragamo Vara pumps, there’s nothing that could make me happier or more in pain. The bone are size 8AA and the black 8AAA so my decision to wear the bone the day after I got them without wearing them in was catastrophic. I knew I shouldn’t have but I couldn’t resist! Now that my wounds have healed I have worn in the bone pair and am working on the black as they fit but just need to stretch a little bit. Now a little bit of pain is well worth it because I paid $150 for both pairs including shipping (from different sellers) on eBay. Considering the fact that if bought new they would be about $400 each I am happy to have them a little scuffed and with the vintage heel. I have to take them to a cobbler to get a makeover and then I shall be walking around, happy as can be, with the sound of expensive shoes in my ears.

the forgotten film

I got my Kodak ‘Brownie’ Cresta camera years ago from a guy with a beard in a singlet who wrapped it up in newspaper for me.

I eventually threw a roll of 120 black and white film in it and shot it over a span of many months, I think it was end of 2010 and beginning of 2011.

The limited amount of locations where you can get 120 black and white film developed meant that I only bothered to do it at the start of this month so I could finally see the results and know whether or not the camera even works!

The results are pleasant, but I have learnt that the old girl is susceptible to camera shake which is reasonable seeing as it is only a point and shoot camera.

Suffice to say I would use it again but I am so terribly slow at completing films and have too many cameras on the go at once that it may be a while before I use it again.

happiness in a little red dot

As promised here is a shot of the two photos I have in the Collective exhibition at PCP. It’s the first time I’ve had little red dots next to my work so it is a wonderful feeling knowing that someone will own it and possibly love it as much as I do.

place des anges

Last night I went to the Place des Anges that was part of the Perth International Arts Festival celebrations on St Georges Terrace. It was performed by Les Studios de Cirque and we had two tonnes of feathers dumped on us, what better way to spend the evening? It was so surreal and beautiful at some points I wanted to cry, and I’m definitely proud to admit that because, well, you had to be there. I shot a film on my LomoKino during the falling feathers so fingers crossed that I get some good footage that I can include in my little film project I have in the workings at the moment.

Here it comes!

There are so many feathers floating around the city streets now, and even some at my train station which is more than 30km out of the city! When I got home I had to go outside and brush my hair upside down to get all the fluff out, so worth it!

Last night was the launch for the All Of The Above Creative studio in 140 William, an amalgamation of all things creative and wonderful! In the space they will be running masterclasses for makeup, styling and photography or you can just go on in and have a look at the pretty pictures on the wall and the wonderful decor.

That’s one to put in a frame.

Last night was the opening for Collective at the Perth Centre of Photography, at it’s new location at 100 Aberdeen St. I’ve been volunteering with them and helping with the admin for the exhibition so it was great to see such a massive amount of people come through! A lot of my time was spent running around collecting wine glasses to be washed as we had a shortage but I did eat plenty of Baci and enjoyed myself at the same time.

A woman kept insisting that my outfit was exactly like this picture and wanted to take a photo. Strange but oh well!

This room was for the Western Australian Photographic Book Survey and through the side door there is also the screening room where there were a few films playing.

We had more beer and wine than we thought we needed for this event, and we drank it all!

Ahh, so peaceful. The exhibition runs until the 11th of March so drop in and have a look, I have two photos in there which I forgot to take a photo of but I’ll do that when I’m back in on Friday. And I’m very happy because both of them sold

new hair

I hadn’t had my hair cut since September, which is outrageous, so yesterday I went to Head Studio and got the best hair cut and colour of my life! I love it, so blonde, so bob. Although something must be done about this face…the curse of a quick blog picture!

Lomokino x Fisheye

I’ve just submitted an article to Lomography about making a Fisheye modification for the Lomokino. Hopefully it gets published soon and hopefully I win some piggy points for having the best Lomokino mod!

Here’s my little movie. My friend Aoife said it looks like a tiny man is trapped inside a telescope.

melted vinyl

As I sit here at my computer, air con a-blazing, it is over 38 degrees outside and I cannot believe what I did today! I went into the city to shoot another roll on my Lomokino (unsuccessful efforts unfortunately) and then I walked very far to go to 78 Records to buy, well, records. I really wanted to get Arctic Monkeys – Suck it and See but they were sold out and on order and it costs more than buying it direct etc. so instead I decided to use a $50 voucher I had hanging around from Christmas to buy The Kills – Blood Pressures and Florence + The Machine – Ceremonials. I can’t wait to see Flo in May! As much as I enjoy vinyl it does not go well with cats. Here is why: my cat loves my room, my cat’s hair is everywhere in my room, as soon as I pulled the first record out, cat hair on it. Fun for me!

And I know people bang on about vinyl sounding better blah blah but if you could hear Florence’s voice right now, shivers!
