With my hopes dismally low for my birthday I actually ended up having a wonderful time, helped by good food, wonderful friends and thoughtful gifts. During the day I had lunch with my Grandma who also came with the rest of my family to the East Fremantle Yacht Club for a lovely buffet dinner followed by a secretly assembled cake for me. Mum made the little hedgehog, it’s party hat is so adorable!
Then we all drove to Little Creatures Brewery to meet up with only my most beautiful friends (most beautiful because they turned up!) and we all enjoyed frites, cider and other delicious beverages.
I got some really thoughtful gifts which makes me incredibly happy because it’s nice to have people who know what you like and don’t buy things for the sake of buying them.
My Grandma gave me a Westie figurine that is 47 years old, it’s even older than my Mum! I love it so much and I will have to find it a special home in my room so nothing bad happens to it.
My fellow Westie lover, Sophia, customised a notebook to have many wonderful pictures of Westies on it, so practical yet so sweet. My favourite is the bottom left photo.
From Hannah I got a beautiful rose from the garden at her new house along with an equally beautiful card with lovely things written inside. If you know what kind of rose it is let me know!

I’m envious of her nice handwriting and also of Evelyn’s, whose sister made this pretty and unique card to go with the amazing present from David, Patrina, Evelyn and Amanda who know me too well and got me a set of 3 Chanel books, the newest limited edition nail polish Malice and the Coco Mademoiselle Moisturising Body Mist which smells gorgeous (I’ve been meaning to buy the EDP for ages so I should finally get it!).

From Laura I got some really weird postcards which I will have to send to equally weird people.

And finally from my sister, Kat, I got a button making kit which came with cute fabric to make them with but you can make them with any thin fabric you like and a great book about making pinhole cameras so now that I’ve (almost) finished uni I will have to get super crafty and try out a few.

I don’t know how practical a minivan would be as a pinhole camera so I might just try some of the smaller, easier to handle objects. I had a great birthday and it’s slightly scary to think that next year I wont be in Perth but in London for my birthday, eeep it’s so close yet so far!

down the rabbit hole
It’s been a bit quiet on here lately, not that I’ve been overly busy but I’ve just been taking it a bit easy, not trying to rush around and enjoy my uni break as much as possible. In short, I haven’t been able to do as much op-shopping as I would like so I’ve been lucky to have a couple things discovered without much effort. I’m also too cold and tired to model the following lovely items so you’ll have to excuse them for hanging lifeless on the door.
First is this cute cute dress from Miss Brown. I saw it when I was working and I just had to have it. I find lots of clothes there that I love but I debate with myself and end up letting them go but this one could go to no-one else. I’ve been told it looks like something out of Peter Rabbit or Alice in Wonderland, hence the bunny related title of this post. It’s not really a colour I usually go for so that’s why it’s a little bit special for me.

Second is the most amazing jumper I have ever set my eyes upon. It was given to me by Sophia who found it when she and Hannah were op-shopping in Mandurah for the next Two Bucks ‘Til Wednesday sale. Sophia and I both love westies and so it was super nice of them to give it to me, and I will love it forever. It did have shoulder pads in it but I promptly removed them of course. And the little collar (we know how I am about collars) is the icing on the cuteness cake.

I have also added a few more op-shops that I remembered that I had visited to my Perth op-shop map (here) and you can always find it in the links at the top of the page.
holga is a VIP

I took my Holga out of semi-retirement to take some photos at the 140 William VIP night last week. Can you believe I hadn’t used it for about 2 years?! I have way too many other cameras, obviously. My Holga was the first ever film camera I owned, have had it since 2007 and definitely need to use it more. All these photos were taken on expired 2005 Kodak Portra 160VC 120 film.

pigeonhole join the pop-up family

Last Thursday (yes, so long ago and I have no real good excuse for not posting this sooner except that I prefer sleep instead of being awake all the time) Pigeonhole joined the 140 William pop-up family with their opening. It just so happened to be on the same night as yet another wonderful exhibition opening at the All of the Above Creative studio so the wine was flowing freely and much merriment was had.

The store is humongous compared to all their other stores (literally the size of pigeonholes) so it was strange but exciting to see them display their wares in a grand space. Also I’m a lover of a great shop-fit so anything woody and different tickles my fancy immensely. What I couldn’t get over was the jewellery displayed on tiles. It’s so simple yet renders me completely smitten. And it helps that jewellery is ever so darling too. (I’m trying to use more of my vocabulary if you haven’t already noticed to prevent me from saying everything is “cool” or “cute”, which it is)

Over in the studio, with an abundance of cheese, was the launch of Fabricate, an exhibition highlighting the excellent styling work of Emma Bergmeier, Hannah McGrath and Meghan Plowman. With branches hanging from the ceiling, wheel barrows full of wool and a new mural the studio looks amazing (yet again!).
Funnily enough there were well dressed people hanging around too, not just inanimate objects and walls!
Hannah wore this amazing but itchy top that had a plethora of toy animals hidden within its flowers, the gift that kept on giving.
Don’t forget the duck!
The caped crusaders launching an expedition on the cheese platter:
Anna’s cute shoes.
And Sophia looked stunning in her Limedrop dress.
Ahh the glorious pop-up opening, guaranteed to bring us all together again.
